Abstract
The invention comprises tricyclo[4.3.1.13,8]-undecane-3-amine and its salts with organic and inorganic acids, and the preparation thereof by heating tricyclo[4.3.1.13,8]undec-3-yl isocyanate with an aqueous or aqueous/organic mineral acid, and, if desired, converting the amine obtained into a salt with an inorganic or organic acid. 1,3 - Bis - tricyclo[4.3.1.13,8]undec - 3 - yl urea is formed as by-product in this reaction. Therapeutic compositions, which are useful as anti-viral agents and which may be administered orally or parenterally, contain as active ingredient tricyclo[4.3.1.13,8]undecane-3-amine or its salts with organic or inorganic acids. Tricyclo[4.3.1.13,8undecane-3-amine may be reacted with arylsulphonyl isocyanates or with reactive functional derivatives of arylsulphonyl carbaminic acids to form N-arylsulphonyl-N1-(tricyclo[4.3.1.13,8]undec - 3 - yl) - ureas such as N - (p - toluenesulphonyl)- or N - (p - chlorobenzenesulphonyl) - N1 - (tricyclo[4.3.1.13,8]undec-3-yl)-urea which have hypoglycaemic activity.
