Abstract

Bicyclic ureas of formula (I): (where n is 0 or 1; R is H or lower alkyl, and R1 is lower alkyl) may be prepd. in improved yields by alkylating corresp. N-unsubstd. cpds. with alkyl halides in liq. NH3 under the action of an alkali metal amide. The prods. have marked neuroleptic activity, with a psychosedative action lying between that of the major and minor tranquillisers. Cpds. (I) in which n is 0 and R1 is 2-4C lower alkyl or n is 1 and R and R1 are lower alkyl are claimed per se, and medicaments for treating psychic diseases contg. as active ingredient (I; n = 0, R1 = CH3) are also claimed.
