Abstract
1,101,070. Wells &c. GRAY TOOL CO. 2, Feb., 1965, No. 18256/67. Divided out of 1,099,851. Heading E1F. Means for guiding equipment to, and supporting equipment at a submerged well head has remotely controlled means for transferring the weight of the equipment to guide posts fixed adjacent the well head The means for guiding comprises posts 138 having guide lines 152 positioned about the well and a series of sleeves 154 which may be telescoped over the posts, the sleeves being connected by arms 172, 190 to the casing or other equipment. A piston 158 slides in the sleeve and engages the top of the post, the release of fluid above the piston being controlled to adjust the rate of descent of the casing. Further equipment such as blow-out preventers may be lowered down the lines on a frame 202. Hydraulic pressure may be applied above the piston to remove equipment. In a modification of the guide means the top of the guide posts are telescopic over the lower part of the posts which form pistons and have upwardly extending rods over which the sleeves slide as the upper parts of the posts are depressed.
