Abstract

1,104,488. Wells &c. ESSO PRODUCTION RESEARCH CO. 26, July, 1965, No. 31834/ 65. Heading E1F. An underwater well has a telesoopic tubing 23 formed with a piston 24 moving in chamber 22, the tubing being moved by fluid supplied to the chamber by lines 32, 33. In its lowermost position (shown) the tubing supplies production fluid from a spring 18 to a flow line 37, and in its uppermost position the wellhead and Christmas tree 35 are raised above or adjacent to the water surface. A plurality of completions having chambers 22 in a single well may be enclosed within a single surface casing. The chamber may be mounted above the sea bed but below the water surface, and be protected by a framework. In modifications the string 18 may form the well casing, and the tubing 23 may sealing engage or slide over the top of the production string. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 855,369.
