Abstract

p-Phenylene diamine-2,5-disulphonic acid is diazotized and coupled with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone -31-sulphonic acid to give a monoazo dye which is again diazotized and coupled in a solution of sodium bicarbonate with the condensation product from equimolar amounts of cyanuric chloride, 1-amino-8-hydroxy-naphthalene-3,6 -disulphonic acid and aniline. The resulting disazo dye dyes cotton violet shades.ALSO:The invention comprises 1,4-phenylenediamine -2,5-disulphonic acid. It is made by treating p-phenylenediamine or its sulphate or p-phenylenediamine-mono sulphonic acid with oleum, preferably at 120-160 DEG C., diluting the sulphonation mixture with water or a mixture of ice and water and isolating the 1,4-phenylenediamine -2,5-disulphonic acid which is precipitated.
