Abstract

110,080. Douglas, W., (trading as Douglas Bros.). Jan. 20, 1917. Spring devices. - In spring frames for cycles wherein the rear wheel is carried by a frame A pivoted to the lower part of the main frame D and connected to the upper part thereof by one or more links B forming with the wheel frame a toggle having an angle at C of nearly one hundred and eighty degrees, a shock-absorber F is operatively connected between the main frame and a point intermediate the ends of the links. To allow for slight vertical movement of the links as the wheel frame oscillates, they may 'be pivoted in a rubber bushing at the upper part of the main frame, or eccentrically on a pin carried by an ordinary bushing; or, as shown, a short link E may be used to connect the end of each link B to the main frame. Each spring acts both in tension and compression, and at one end it is held by a plug K pivoted to a link B and at the other end by a plug L connected to a clamp M on the bar G of the main frame.
