Abstract

5374. Kelly, G. March 4. Rope grips.-Relates to haulage clips of the kind in which two plates 7 loosely mounted on a central bolt 8 are forced apart by a wedge 19 at their upper parts so as to grip the rope 14 between the adjacent faces of their lower parts, and consists in connecting the clip firmly to the vehicle draw-bar 1 by a bracket 3 and pin 5. The bracket 3 is rigidly secured to, or integral with, one of the side plates 7, and is formed with an eye at its upper end through which the draw-bar 1 passes. The pin 5 for holding the draw-bar in position is loosely connected by a chain 6 to the vehicle. The wedge 19 is carried on a lever 16 pivoted on a pin 11 passing through the plates 7. and is held down by a retaining-pawl 21. The central bolt is provided with an adjusting-nut 9, and the rope is prevented from rising by a pair of cross-pins 11<a>.
