1,099,861. Transducer assemblies. SOCIETE ALSACIENNE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ATOMIQUES DE TELECOMMUNICATIONS ET D'ELECTRONIQUE "ALCATEL." March 31, 1966 [April 1, 1965], No. 14361/66. Heading H4J. Apparatus for producing sonic or ultrasonic vibrations comprises a closed cavity 4 in which are disposed transducer assemblies, each comprising a cone 5a secured to a thin wall 2, a sonic or ultrasonic electromechanical transducer 5b and a body 5c which bears on the bottom of a massive casing 1. Preferably, a cork cushion 5d is interposed between the body 5c and casing 1. An elastic seal 3 is clamped between the wall 2 and the casing 1, e.g. by screws. The wall 2 is preferably of steel or aluminium alloy and the transducer 5b is piezoelectric. The cone 5a and body 5c are of light alloy and bronze respectively. The various elements are adhered together. Alternatively (Fig. 2, not shown), each cone is fastened to the thin wall, by screws, with or without adhesive. If the cone 5a is secured to the thin wall 2 by screws only, a layer of grease or wax is interposed. The front face of the cone is preferably flat, but may have a profile different from a plane provided the thin wall exactly fits the shape of the front face of the cone.
