Abstract

109,942. Franck, E. J. April 12, 1917. Circular machines.-A stocking machine comprises a rotating head 1 having an inner inclined needle-bed 2 extending part of the way around the head, and an outer bed 3 encircling the head and shorter than the bed 2 to provide a space 4 for fingers 5 adapted to control leg-fashioning needles 6 in the bed 2. The fingers 5 are depressed simultaneously to take the needles 6 out of action by a tappet 12 acting upon lugs 13, and are operated one at a time, to bring the needles into action, by a tappet 11 acting upon graduated lugs 14. Needles 8 in the outer bed and the needles 6 knock over in the same horizontal plane. Cams 7, 9, operate the needles 6, 8, respectively.
