Circular machines.-In circular rib machines, the ribber cams are so mounted that the rib needle bed is readily accessible for the replacement of a damaged needle &c. The invention is shown applied to a machine having a stationary cylinder 2 and conical rib cap 1. The cylinder cam box 5 carries posts 3, 4 connected by a semicircular bar 6. A needle-lowering cam 7 and welt cam 8 are slidably mounted in the post 4 and are brought into operation, against the action of springs 9, 10, by levers 11, 12 operated respectively by a control member 13 and a bell-crank lever 14 adapted to engage a fixed stop 15. The post 4 is furnished with an extension 17 slidably supporting the transfer cam 16, which is brought into operation, against the action of a spring by a lever 23 operated by a lever 24 con trolled by the member 13. Pivoted to lugs 20 un the post 3 is a gate 18 connected to the extension 17 by a bolt 21 ; or the extension 17 may reach from one post to the other and may be removable. The gate 18 carries the landing cam, stitch cam, and second knocking over cam. Further cams, for example for fashioning, may be mounted upon the posts 3, 4 or upon the bar 6. According to the Provisional Specification, the invention may be applied to the cylinder cams.
