Abstract

1,098,567. Railway track. L. X. H. MAYNIER. Dec. 5, 1966 [Dec. 6, 1965], No. 54368/ 66. Heading E1G. A rail 14 is supported in an upwardly directed channel 12 by wedge members 16 on each side of the rail in contact with the underside of the upper flange, the wedge members having smooth faces 38 parallel to the rail and sloping towards the foot, the faces 38 being in contact with seating members 34 supported by resilient elements 30. The seating members 34 and resilient elements 30 are detachably engaged in trapezoidal recesses in a reinforced concrete sleepers 10. The sleepers 10 are rectangular in plan and are connected temporarily or permanently longitudinally and transversely by metal gate members having four vertical legs passing through holes near the adjacent comers of the sleepers. The rails are restrained from upward movement by longitudinally inserted spring clips passing through apertures formed by bent metal strips engaged by the concrete reinforcement.
