Abstract

1,076,717. Railway sleepers. RAILROAD PERMANENT WAY PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Nov. 11, 1965, No. 47850/65. Heading E1G. A rail track comprises longitudinal precast reinforced concrete beams 14 in abutting relation, spaced by cross beams 16 secured thereto. The longitudinal beams are prestressed and may have a cant on the upper surface which is recessed to take elastomeric pads surmounted by pressed steel chair plates having upturned lips to engage the outsides of rail clips 90. The cross beams 16 have prestressed reinforcement welded to end plates 44 secured by bolts 48 to the longitudinal beams with the interposition of elastomeric pads. The cross beams may be formed with transverse hole for the reception of a securing bolt 62 passing through all three beams. The clips 90 have an upturned lip to engage a resilient rail seating and, at the other end, the base is turned upwards and inwards to engage the clamping bolt and to limit the clamping movement of the lip portion.
