Abstract

1,098,195. Winding apparatus; hauling by pinching between rotary sheaves. MASHINOELEKTROTECHNITCHESKI INSTITUT. Jan. 20, 1965, No. 2608/65. Heading B8B. A winch mounted on semi-trailers and used with ropes of round or flat section comprises a storage drum 14, Fig. 1, and a pair of contrarotating pulley drums 1, 2 having grooves for each rope covered by fixed roller chains 8, the ropes being reeved twice round each drum, once under and once over the chains 8 whereby the tension of the ropes over the chains 8 presses the ropes under the chains to increase the frictional grip on the drums. Friction shoes 15 may be used to engage the ropes in the region of the storage drum 14. The drums 1, 2 are driven from a pair of motors (8), (9), Fig. 3 (not shown), geared to each end of a shaft of gear (3) forming one of a pair (3), (4) between central gears (5), (6) on the drums (1), (2) for producing contra-rotation. The apparatus is used for removing and replacing ropes in mine shafts.
