Abstract

1511611 Winches RUHRKOHLE AG 10 May 1976 [14 June 1975] 19148/76 Addition to 1470203 Heading B8B The winch of the parent Specification is modified in that each traction sheave is driven by a separate two-step hydraulic drive means so as to be optionally drivable by one or other of the steps to alter the torque applied to each sheave. The two step hydraulic drive comprises two equal power hydraulic motors M1, M1<SP>1</SP> or M2, M2<SP>1</SP> associated with each sheave 1 or 2, and which can be connected to the sheaves either in series or in parallel to alter the applied torque. The drive is transmitted from each motor to an internally toothed ring on the sheave, the two motors being mounted eccentrically of the drum. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 (not shown) a motor is mounted at each side of each sheave on the axis thereof. In the embodiment of Fig. 5 (not shown), each sheave is driven by a two-stage hydraulic motor wherein the drive torque is altered depending on whether the drive is from one or both stages of the motor.
