Abstract

1,096,552. Track propulsion systems. RHEINER MASCHINENFABRIK WINDHOFF A.G. July 18, 1966 [Aug. 7, 1965], No. 32107/66. Heading B7L. A railway track propulsion system for marshalling railway vehicles on a length of railway track 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, comprises a longitudinal guideway formed by the rail 1 and an adjacent parallel rail 2 and a succession of conveyer sections each comprising two trolleys each provided with four rollers 7 running on the adjacent facing flanges of the rails 1, 2, the trolleys of each pair being rigidly connected by a rod 12 secured to an inverted channel cover 13 also provided with rollers (14), Fig. 4 (not shown), to engage the guideway flanges, the rod 12 being formed with rack teeth engaged by a pinion 11 driven by a reversible electric motor 10 fixed below the track whereby the trolleys can be reciprocated alternately in forward and reverse directions. Each trolley (4), Fig. 4 (not shown), has an arm (5) provided with a roller (6) to engage a rail vehicle wheel (6a), the arm being raisable during forward movement and lowerable during reverse movement by a pivoted support (9). The system is controlled by electric switches along the track and operates in the manner described with reference to Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown).
