1,096,549. Seats. LA-Z-BOY CHAIR CO. April 7, 1966 [Oct. 23, 1965], No. 15710/66. Heading A4J. A foldable leg rest 43, which can be moved between extended and retracted positions by manual rotation of shaft 69 and which is locked in the fully extended position by the over-centre action of drive links 51, and 65, can be supported in a partially extended position by the engagement of pin 143 in each of notches 139 in plate 115. Arm 121, which is resiliently anchored to frame member 29, carries pin 143, which prevents clockwise rotation of plate 115. Counter-clockwise rotation of shaft 69, further to extend the leg rest, is permitted by ratchet action of pin 143 and notches 139. In the fully extended position of the leg-rest, tooth 137 transfers pins 143 to the uper leg of L-shaped slot 141. In this position it is carried above notches 139, so that the subsequent retraction of the leg rest to the folded position is unimpeded. Tooth 135 is operative, in the folded position, to return the pin 139 to the lower leg of slot 141 so as to re-institute the ratchet action. The leg rest 43 is fitted to a reclining and platform rocking chair (11).
