Abstract

1381161 Rocking-reclining chairs MOHASCO CORP 3 Jan 1972 [4 Jan 1971] 35/72 Heading A4J In a reclining chair having a linkage assembly carried on the chair frame and footrest, seat and back members carried by the linkage assembly, a hand actuable mechanism is operatively connected between the seat member and the chair frame such that the footrest, seat and back members can be locked in their upright position, the mechanism comprising pivotally inter-connected links 52, 55 pivoted, respectively, to an arm 50 rigid with the seat mounting bracket 20 and a bracket 12 on the chair frame and moveable into an overcentre locking position with a notched undersurface on the link 52 engaged with a stop 64 on the link 55 by a handle 66 rigid with a rod 65 connected to the link 55. If, the chair frame, is mounted on rocker cams 8 the mechanism prevents the chair from being reclined when used as a rocking chair and the chair is prevented from being rocked when reclined by the engagement of a pin 78 on a link 76 pivotally connected to a back carrier link 72 in the end of a slot formed in a rocker control link 80 pivotally connected to the bracket 12 and to a link 90 connected to the chair base 7.
