Abstract

[Also in Division B5] Air-escape vents (7) (Fig. 2, not shown) adjacent a longitudinal seam (9) in a bag are normally covered by the other margin (5) involved in the seam. The covering margin may be on the outside or the inside of the bag, or two adjacent seams (19a), (19b) (Figs. 7 to 9. not shown) may be formed, the portions of material between them having vents which are nut of register. The vents preferably take the form of C-shaped cuts. The invention may be applied to valve bags. The vents may be formed in a web before this is tubed, seamed and cut to form the bags.
