Abstract

1,094,965. Tubular containers; container closures. TIROS PLASTICS CORPORATION. June 15, 1966, No. 26656/66. Headings B8P and B8T. End closures 2 of a tubular container (1), Fig. 1 (not shown), are in the form of hollow plugs with outer cap portions 3 and have resilient internal ribs 7, gripping and cushioning the contained article, e.g. a thermometer. The caps are retained in position by a frictional fit between a thickened region 6 at the base of the plug portion, and the surrounding container wall. Each end of the container is located in an annular groove in the outer cap portion 3 of the closures, the portion 3 having polygonal cross-section to prevent the container from rolling. The cross-section of the container and plug portion of the end closures may be square, and spiral or annular ribs may be used in place of the ribs 7. Only one of the end closures may be removable, the cap portion 3 on the other end closure being omitted.
