Abstract

A high strength alloy contains, in addition to aluminium, 0.3-1.2% zirconium and 6-25c.c. hydrogen per 100 gm of alloy at NTP. The alloy may also include 1-3% manganese, 0.1-1.5% silicon, 0.3-2% magnesium, 0.5-3% nickel and 1-4% copper. It may be heat treated at 350-450 DEG C. or hot rolled at 400-520 DEG C. with or without an ageing at 165 DEG C.
