Abstract

1,094,285. Rotary-absorption dynamometers. H.-J. WINKLER. April 6, 1966, No.15419/66. Heading G1W. A rotary-absorption dynamometer is provided with epicyclic gearing through which its rotor shaft e may be driven at a higher speed than the drive shaft from an engine. An internally toothed housing a, fixed to the stator casing c by a bridge piece b, and a sun-wheel d, fixed to the rotor shaft e, engage planet wheels carried by a cage i which is centred and supported solely by the planet wheels with which it forms a readily removable unit. The shaft e has external key ways round its end g which extends centrally within a hub h projecting from the cage i and provided with internal key ways. Two flanged elements k, l are provided for coupling the drive alternatively to the hub h and shaft end g for step-up or direct drive respectively to the shaft e.
