Abstract

1,094,155. Package holder. BENTLEY ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Sept. 2, 1964 [Sept. 4, 1963], No. 34985/63. Heading D1J. A holder for a yarn package 4 comprises a base 2 for supporting the package core 3, a hollow spindle 5 extending upwardly from the base 2 and passing beyond the core 3, and a guide eye 7 at the top of the spindle through which the yarn from the package is passed and directed down the spindle, the spindle 5 extending downwardly beyond the base 2 and being adjustable heightwise in the base. By temporarily releasing the screw 6, the spindle 5 can be adjusted axially relatively to the base 2. The cone 8 is optional. To facilitate the initial threading of the yarn down the spindle 5 there may be (a) a nozzle above the spindle directing a jet of air into the spindle; or (b) a nozzle extending through a side wall of the depending part of the spindle 5, said nozzle being bent downwardly within the spindle to direct air downwardly therein; or (c) a removable suction tube that can be temporarily connected to the lower end of the spindle 5.
