Abstract
109,187. McLaren, W. D., and Welsh, G. M. Dec. 27, 1916. Generating by indirect contact of hot gases.- The exhaust gases of an internal-combustion engine are silenced by passing them through chambers b in free communication with, and external to, a steam-boiler a, the exhaust gas circuit being independent of the boiler combustion and flue spaces. The gases may pass through tubes e in the chambers. In a modification, the gases pass around water-tubes opening into water spaces at the top and bottom of the chambers. Specification 7436/07 is referred to.
