Abstract
1,091,211. Distributing materials. AMCHEM PRODUCTS Inc. Jan. 12, 1965, No. 1372/65. Heading A1D. An apparatus for spraying pulverulent or particulate materials (e.g. from an aircraft) comprises a distributing chamber 34, a feed tube 12, and a shaft 22, having agitating projections 30, for rotating the chamber. The shaft is driven by motor 28. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 the chamber comprises two plate members 32, 42, the upper of which is held in engagement with a flange 40 of the lower plate by compression springs 58. When the chamber is rotated the force of the materials therein force the two plates apart to allow distribution (Fig. 3, not shown). The chamber may be caused to vibrate by means of an eccentric disc 80 which may be set relative to an eccentric boss 38 so that the centre of -gravity is offset from the axis of the shaft. The feed tube extends into the chamber via an aperture in the upper plate. In the embodiment of Fig. 8 the plate members are relatively fixed and feed of the materials is controlled by means of a sleeve valve 98. The lower disc may not have an eccentric boss integral therewith, but the boss may comprise a disc with an eccentric hole.
