Abstract

A method of driving a pile into the hard packed sand formation 15 below the less dense sand or mud 16 under the water comprises a jet-line assembly 20 placed in pile section 14a to assist in the driving of the pile by jetting water into the sand and so reducing the resistance to pile penetration. As one pile section after another 14b, Fig. 4 (not shown) is welded to pile section 14a a large hydrostatic pressure builds up to jet water through perforations 23. In another embodiment the jet-line assembly 20 may be provided with its own pump to create a desired hydraulic pressure through perforations 23.
