Abstract

Well perforating technique.. Gf-. By a tool lowered to the required perforating level and then fired to produce the perforations. Prior to firing, fluid is introduced into the well up to a level above the perforating range and is then raised to a pressure sufficient to drive it to the surface and into the perforations and the formation when the tool is fired. The fluid is capable of removing any material such as might clog the perforations made. Preferably the fluid used is known to react with possible clogging materials. This material is specifically driven right out of the well at high pressure. The drive fluid is followed by another fluid which prevents production loss and also prevents clogging of the perforations. This second fluid or mud is followed by another fluid which preferably is capable of consolidating sand for fracturing purposes in the formation. The pressure of the fluid responsible for preventing clogging is raised specifically to a level sufficient to fracture the perforated formation.
