Abstract

108,908. Wallace, H. B. Aug. 31, 1916. Air tubes and chambers. - Airtubes or single-tube tyres are built up from layers 10 of raw rubber which at the rim portion enclose a hard ring 11 adapted to seat between the beads of the cover or to fit the rim flanges, the ring extending above the edges of the flanges. The valve 5 is fitted through the ring 11 and clamped in position before the complete tube is vulcanized. The ring 11 may be in two parts separated by the edges of one of the rubber layers. Fabric strips 15 may be embedded at the tread portion. The tube is built up in the manner described in Specification 109,025, [Class 87 (ii), Moulding plastic &c. substances].
