Abstract

379,116. Pneumatic tyres. CARNAHAN, F. G., 755, Ardmore Avenue, Akron, Ohio, U.S.A. Sept. 21, 1931, No. 26376. [Class 144 (ii).] An inner tube 3 of vulcanized rubber is provided at the tread part with a chamber containing non-vulcanizable plastic compound 5 and a single unbroken layer of frictioned fabric 6 vulcanized to the inner wall 7 of the tube. To increase the flexibility of the tube, the side edges of the fabric are not frictioned. In a modification, as shown in Fig. 8, in which the chamber is formed on the outside of an inner tube by vulcanization, the fabric 6 is separated from the wall 7 of the tube by a thin film of the compound 5.
