[Also in Division F2] A float operated valve controlling the supply to a cistern includes (Fig. 1), a conical closure member 8 actuated by float 6 via rocker 7. The valve is positioned such that the envelope of water emerging therefrom is reduced to droplet form before it strikes the sides ofthe cistern or the surface of the water. This reduces the noise level of the filling operation. In Fig. 2, the supply passage 1 defines seat 10 and the recessed closure member 8 diverts the water outwardly past ribs (13). These ribs have a negligible effect on the emerging flow pattern.
