Abstract

1440107 Fluid-pressure servomotor system K FUJIWARA 26 Oct 1973 [20 Dec 1972] 50006/73 Heading G3P A liquid level control valve comprises a main valve member 25 controlling fluid-flow from an inlet 4, through orifices 16, 18 to an outlet (not shown) in a tank, the valve member being part of a piston 20 having a pressure chamber 23 above it, a first orifice 30 which admits inlet fluid to the chamber, and a second orifice 32 which communicates the pressure chamber with a float chamber 6 of the tank and is controlled by a pilot valve 33 which co-operates with the float 7. In operation, when the tank is filled to the required level the float closes the pilot valve 33. The pressure chamber 23 is then subject to fluidpressure increase due to inlet fluid, and the piston 20 is urged downwardly closing the main valve 25. When the liquid level falls, the pilot valve opens, and the pressure in pressure chamber 23 decreases since the orifice 32 is of larger cross-section than orifice 30. The piston 20 is urged upwardly by the inlet fluid acting on the base of the piston. A restoring spring 35 urging the piston downwardly may be dispensed with if the pressure of the liquid source is sufficiently high that a downward impact force is created on a flange 29.
