Abstract

1358683 Fluid pressure servomotor systems H G JONES 9 Aug 1971 [7 May 1970] 21966/70 Heading G3P A liquid-level-control servo valve, comprises a main, two-part valve member 11, 12 and a float controlled pilot valve member 6, the latter controlling the pressure within a pilot chamber SC. In the fully open state of the pilot valve, the pilot chamber SC is vented at a greater rate than it is supplied with fluid from the inlet 3, such supply being by way of a bleed hole 14 and around a tapered pin 15 while prospects into the bleed hole. Thus, the main valve member is moved away from its seat 4b by the inlet pressure acting thereon and so the inlet 3 and outlet 4 are placed in communication with one another. As the float 8 rises, so the pilot valve 5, 6 closes and the pressure within pilot chamber SC rises until firstly, part 12 of the main valve member engages the seat 4b and then secondly, part 11 flexes to engage an upstanding rim of the seat. With only part 12 engaged on the seat, a restricted flow between the inlet 3 and outlet 4 tubes place through four passages 12c on the part 12, the part being slidably mounted on a stem 13 extending from the valve member part 11. The provision of the tapered pin 15 is sent to prevent blockage of the bleed hole 14 by foreign matter.
