Abstract

1,088,363. Sewing machines. INDUSTRIEWERKE KARLSRUHE A.G. Nov. 22, 1965 [Nov. 27, 1964], No. 49487/65. Heading DIG. A multiple-needle carrier arm sewing machine comprises a looper arranged to perform periodic movements in the direction of sewing and transversely thereto, means for adjusting the amplitude of at least one of said movements, and an eccentric drive which is adapted to permit the timing of at least one of said movements to be varied. A looper 27, co-operating with needles 8, is carried by a shaft 26 journalled in a carrier arm 17 and connected by a linkage 22 to 25 to a crank pin 21 for receiving oscillatory movements. An eccentric mounted on one arm of a driven shaft 30 is connected by a link 34 to one arm of a bell crank lever 37. the other arm of which is formed with a slot 41 adjustably connetted by a link 42 to a member 43 on shaft 26 for imparting reciprocating axial movements thereto. The eccentric is rotatably adjustable on shaft 30 for varying the timing of the reciprocating movements. A casing 56 provides an oil bath. Covers 59, 60 are provided.
