A sewing machine comprises a shuttle housing formed with an internal circular raceway, a shuttle having a peripheral rib journalled in said raceway, a shuttle driving shaft journalled in said housing on an axis concentric with said raceway, a shuttle driver carried by said shaft, an oscillating shaft journalled in the machine bed on an axis normal to the shuttle driving shaft and connected to the latter by means adapted to transmit oscillation thereto, and means for fixing the shuttle housing relatively to the machine bed in a position adjustable relatively to the axis of the oscillating shaft. Stitch-forming.-A shaft 22, journalled in a bushing 23 fixed in a lug 25 and in a bushing 24 fixed in a pair of lugs 26, is connected by a crank 28 and link 29 to a crank 30 on an oscillatory shaft 18. On an extension of bushing 24 is adjustably fixed by means of screws 33 a sleeve portion 31 of a shuttle housing 32 which also includes a body portion 34 formed with a circular raceway 35 the axis of which is normal to that of shaft 22. Body 34 is closed by a cover 36 pivoted thereto at 37 and secured by a catch 40. A shuttle 42 has a peripheral rib 43 journalled in raceway 35. A shaft 46 coaxial with the latter and journalled in a bush 45 fixed in housing 32, carries at one end a shuttle driver 47 and at the other end a bevel gear 48 meshing with a gear sector 49 carried by shaft 22. The distance of the loop seizing beak 52 of the shuttle from the worksupporting surface 4 may be varied by altering the angular position of the shuttle housing 32 relative to the axis of shaft 22 either by turning the bushing 24, or by turning the shuttle housing 32 relative to the bushing 24. The shaft 22, the bushing 31, the shuttle housing 32 and the parts contained in the latter may be run-in separately from the machine, and then applied to the latter as a sub-assembly. Feeding.-A feed-bar 7, carrying a feed-dog 8, is pivoted at one end to a crank 9 on a feedadvance shaft 10 which is oscillated via a crank 12 and connecting-rod 11. The other end of feed-bar 7 is formed with a fork 13 which embraces a pin 14 carried by a crank 15 on a feed-lift shaft 16. A fork 19 on the latter embraces a cam 17 on shaft 18 oscillated via a crank 21 and connecting rod 20.
