Abstract

1,086,387. Refuse bins. E. J. CLERK. June 13, 1966 [Feb. 3, 1966], No. 4833/66. Heading A4A. A pedal mechanism 1 for a refuse bin 2 having a closure lid 7 for the open end of the bin, the pedal mechanism being operable to move the lid from the closed to the open position, comprises a pedal 10 adapted for detachable engagement with the refuse bin at or adjacent the lower end thereof so as to be capable of pivotal movement in a vertical plane between a raised and lowered position, a pull rod 11 connected by one end to the pedal at or adjacent the end of the pedal remote from the refuse bin, and means at the other end of the pull rod for engagement with means on the closure lid of the refuse bin to operatively connect the pedal to the closure lid so that the closure lid can be raised from the closure position by depression of the pedal.
