Abstract

750,354. Hopper wagons. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE AKT.-GESOct. 21, 1953 [Nov. 5, 1952], No. 29041/53. Class 103 (4). [Also in Group XXV] A side wall 2 of a truck 1 is pivoted at 8 to a reinforced part of the truck and towards the bottom is connected to one end of a rod 13, the other end having a pin-and-slot connection with a lever 12 fixed to a shaft 15. A cam disc 14 keyed on the shaft 15 has projections adapted to be engaged by a pin 24 on a lever 11. The lever is freely mounted on the shaft 15 and is formed with an elongated slot 34. When the wall 2 is closed the lever 11 is normally in the position 18. To open the wall the lever is drawn out radially to disengage the pin 24 from the projection 30 and is then brought into position 20 with the pin engaging below projection 31, the lever then being pulled upwardly, whereby the rod 13 passes dead centre position with respect to the shaft 15. The wall 2 is then forced open by the weight of material in the truck, and the rod 13 takes up the position 13<SP>1</SP>. At the same time the cam disc 14 is rotated so that the projection 23 takes up a position approximating to that previously held by the projection 31. To close the wall 2 the lever 11 is placed with the pin 24 engaging the projection 23 and is pressed downwardly. If the lever 12 does not rotate fully into the deadcentre position the pin 24 of the lever 11 is then caused to press down upon the projection 31, after which the lever 11 is disengaged and brought into the position 18.
