Abstract

1,086,330. Wall panels. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 30, 1964 [Oct. 28, 1963], No. 42398/63. Heading E1B. A wall or partition comprises panels 1 of plaster (with or without fillers), wood, plastics or foam plastics, held together by threaded reinforcing rods 4 and nuts 7 loosely engaging holes 2 therein. As shown each panel has two vertical and three horizontal holes 2, and inclined holes may also be provided. Alternatively each panel may have a large number of holes. some of which may receive reinforcement while others form service ducts. Each rod 4 has a flange 5 engaging a recess 3, and its two ends have threads of different pitch or different hand. Cut-outs may be provided giving access to the nuts 7. The threaded ends of the rod may be universally jointed at 8 to accommodate misalignment. Mastic may be used between panels. The flat panels shown may be used in conjunction with corner-pieces, T-pieces, crosses &c. The rods 4 may be tapped instead of threaded, or may be replaced by tubes, bars or wires. It is stated that the panels may be joined at an angle to each other by the use of corner-pieces, T-junctions &c.
