Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1085913/C2/1> wherein the 6-substituent Hal may have a ,b or planar configuration, R3 is a 3-keto-4-dehydro, 3-keto-4,6-bisdehydro, 3-keto-1,4-bisdehydro, 3-keto-1,4,6-trisdehydro- or 3-hydrocarbonyloxy-3,5-bisdehydro-system, hal is a fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom and -OR is a free, etherified or esterified hydroxy group, and their preparation by standard methods of introduction of a 6-halogen atom, introduction or reduction of a nuclear double bond, degradation of the 17-side chain, interconversion of groups -OR, enol etherification or hydrolysis, oxidation of a 3-hydroxy-4- or 5-dehydro-system or reduction of a 17-keto group. The compounds of the invention have anabolic and pituitary influencing activity and may be used in pharmaceutical compositions in combination with a carrier, for example in forms suitable for oral, parenteral or rectal administration.
