1361412 17α-Propadienyl steroid SANDOZ Ltd 17 May 1971 [21 May 1970] 55868/73 Divided out of 1361411 Heading C2U The invention comprises 11#-methyl-17α-propadienyl - 17# - hydroxyestr - 4 - en - 3 - one. It is prepared by acid- or base-catalysed isomerization of the corresponding 5(10)-en-3-one, or by acid hydrolysis of the corresponding 3-methoxy- 2,5(10)-diene. These starting materials are prepared as described in Specification 1,361,411. The inventive compound is said to possess progestational and estrogen-antagonistic activity, and may be made up with carriers into pharmaceutical compositions for oral and parenteral administration.
