Abstract

108,551. Wolstenholme, O. S. Aug. 25, 1916. Slips.-An expanding slip-way for launching ships' boats comprises a pair of trellis members A connected together at their middle and lower joints by members B either acting as rollers or fitted with rollers. The upper end is pivoted to the deck or structure while the lower end is fitted with a float F and is connected to the upper end by ropes running through eyes D and running over pulleys E. The side members may be supported by falls from a crane or davit and the speed of descent of the boat may be limited by a spring-controlled cable. According to the Provisional Specification the sides of the boat may have clips fitted with rollers to engage the side ropes.
