Abstract

Heald frames 1 are actuated by a single lift open shed dobbie having a reciprocating knife 6 which raises the frame, a peg 12 which retains the frame in open shed position and an oppositely reciprocating knife 7 which lowers the frame if selection is discontinued. If no peg is present on the pattern drum 17 a lever 10 raises the peg 12 and a peg 13, in the knife 6, which entrains a rod 3 to shed the frame. At open shed the peg 12 engages the rod 3 to detain it and it stays in open shed position until a peg 18 on the pattern drum raises the lever 10 to release the peg 12 so that the rod 3 returns with the knife 7. The knives 6, 7 (Fig. 2, not shown) are obliquely moved to raise the rear heald frames more than the front and are reciprocated by a rack and pinion 21 which is operated by a further rack 24 and pinion 24 moved from the crankshaft 26.
