Abstract

1,085,317. Casement windows. QUALITY PATENTS (PROPRIETORY) Ltd. Dec. 4, 1964 [Dec. 30, 1963], No. 49333/64. Heading E2F. A casement window comprises inner and outer metal or wood frames 12 and 11 joined by a pair of rigid pivoted arms 13 and 14 at at the bottom of the window with a similar pair of arms at the top, the arms fitting in the gap between the frames when the inner frame 12 is closed. The arm 13 is pivoted to a bracket 16 secured outside the inner edge 17 of frame 12 when it is in the closed position, and is fitted with a nut 23 so that the frame 12 may be held in any desired open position. A catch 24 holds the frame closed. The overlapping edge 21 of the frame 12 covers the gap between the frames and makes the casement weatherproof. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the end of arm 13 has its pivot accommodated in a slot in a rail 25.
