Abstract

1,085,137. Tyre valve connectors. T. SWALES and O. HOBSON, [trading as SWALES & COWARD]. April 27, 1966 [May 25, 1965], No. 22223/65. Heading F2G. A tyre valve connector, comprising a slidable body 16 axially depressible in a housing 10 by a cam lever 18 to compress a resilient gland 14 about a tyre valve received therein, is characterized in that the said body is provided with a pressure-gauge receiving nipple 26 which extends from the body end acted on by the cam lever and which is offset relative to the housing axis so that a pivot pin 36 of the cam lever can extend, preferably diametrically, from one side of the housing to the other, Fig. 4 (not shown). The pressure-gauge receiving nipple is provided with a spring-loaded closure valve 30. The body is provided with an air supply nipple 20 and a tyre valve unseating pin 24. The cam lever has a lengthwise extending semi-circular groove (40), Fig. 4 (not shown), to enable the lever, when the connector is not in use, to assume the vertical position illustrated so that a lateral lug 42 projects over the gauge-receiving nipple whereby the lever protects said nipple from damage.
