Abstract

A valve comprises a valve element 24 having a closure member 22, co-operating with a seat 26, and a stem 23 formed with a lead 25 which abuts an orifice member 18 carried by a diaphragm 14. The diaphragm forms a highpressure chamber 15 and a low-pressure chamber 16 with the housing and is urged towards the seat 26 by a spring 22. Flow tubes place from an inlet 12 through valve 22 and orifice 18 to the outlet 13. A path is provided in the head 25 or the wall of orifice 18 to provide a flow path from chamber 15 to the orifice, which path is larger than the orifice. The diaphragm is positioned in accordance with the pressures in chambers 15 and 16 and the valve provides substantially constant flow irrespective of pressure changes. A non-return valve 29 may be provided at the inlet or outlet of the valve.
