Abstract

108,399. Spear & Jackson, and Smart, H. Oct. 10, 1916. Saws.-A machine for forging saw teeth to form a symmetrical clearance on each side, particularly teeth that have been upset by the machine described in Specification 106,410, [Class 145 (ii), Wood, Working], comprises a pair of plates f separated by a distance piece h that forms a rest for the saw. Bosses f<2> receive dies a, b actuated by a right and left hand screw and hand-lever c. A supporting handle k is fitted to the other side of the machine. The teeth are engaged by a segmental fillet g angularly adjustable to suit the tooth angle by screws g<2> passing through slots in the bosses. The dies occupy the remaining space in the bosses, adjust themselves correspondingly to the fillet, and are chamfered at l to produce the tooth shape required. By reversing the dies, a similar or different chamfer l<1> may be brought into operation. The position of the rest h in the frame is adjustable at i and clips j act as a guide on the saw.
