Abstract

1,083,570. Indicating-apparatus. STANDARD GAGE CO. Inc. June 6, 1966 [June 23, 1965], No.25178/66. Heading G1J. A combined crystal 21 and bezel 18 for a dial gauge comprises a transparent disc 21 of resilient plastic having a flange 22 integral therewith and a ring 27 of resilient opaque material integrated with the flange 22 to flex therewith as a unit. The ring 27 is formed of an opaque plastic and the disc 21 and flange 22 are moulded within, rims 25, 26 with side walls 29, 26 serving to interlock the flange 22 and ring 27. The flange 22 is formed internally with a camming rim 23, recess 24 and shoulder 20 to locate a dial 17. A resilient wire ring 28 protrudes from a peripheral groove 12 of the gauge casing and, when the bezel 18 is applied to the casing, the wire 28 engages the camming rim 23 pressing the flange 22 outwards until the wire 28 enters the recess 24. A spring 16 then forces the dial against the shoulder 20 and the wire 28 against a face 33 to effect a seal against dust. The dial 17 can be turned to set the gauge to zero by turning the 'bezel 18, which is knurled. A locking plate engages the knurled surface and has a lug entering a hole in the casing so that when the plate is screwed down it clamps the bezel and holds the dial 17 by friction.
