Abstract
716,589. Watches. DROZ, R. July 15, 1952 [July 16, 1951], No. 17820/52. Class 139 A fluidtight watch case is characterized in that it comprises a combined rim and case band having two internal grooves, one being adapted to receive a watch glass and the other a back, the watch glass and back being of plastic material, the back being adapted to be fitted into position in its groove by resilient deformation by peripheral compression by means of a clamping tool for the purpose of obtaining efficient fluid tightness of the case without the use of packing. The combined rim and case band 1, Fig. 1, has a groove 2 for receiving the plastic glass 4 and a groove 3 for receiving the transparent or opaque plastic back 5. The glass 4 has a groove 7 and the back a rim 11 for engagement by appropriate tools. The edge 8 of the glass rests on the dial 9 to hold the movement 6 against a shoulder 10 of the case band 1. The movement is introduced through the opening for the glass. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the glass 4 has no groove 7, the case band has no movement supporting shoulder 10 and the movement is introduced through the opening for the back. The back 5 may have a groove 23, Fig. 3, for receiving a metal disc or ring 22 which forces the edge of the back 5 into the groove 3.
