Abstract

1,083,471. Transformers; inductors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Sept. 3, 1965 [Sept. 23, 1964], No. 37711/65. Heading H1T. A core member 10 of an induction apparatus comprises a plurality of successively superposed rectangular laminate layer groups. 25-30, each group being formed of n laminate layers, where n = 4 in Fig. 3, each layer including a pair of L-shaped laminates of magnetic strip material, e.g. cold rolled silicon steel, having a direction of preferred magnetization along its length. In one form (e.g. Fig. 5) two such core members are disposed in side-by-side relation and a coil assembly is provided on the centre leg. In another form (Fig. 6) a third such core member is disposed around the two side-by-side members, and three coils are provided on the three legs to be used in three phase power applications. The laminates and the groups are held together by epoxy resin adhesive or by mechanical means.
