Abstract
In the Examples a paper web is coated with respectively (1) an aqueous dispersion of 40 parts by weight of TiO2 and 40 parts of a 50% aqueous dispersion of polyvinyl acetate; (2) an aqueous dispersion of 35 parts of TiO2 and 150 parts of a 40% aqueous dispersion of an acrylic resin; (3) a dispersion of 30 parts of ZnO and 10 parts of after-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride in methylene chloride and ethyl acetate; and (5) a dispersion of 40 parts of ZnO and 20 parts of polystyrene in ethylacetate. In other Examples a polyethyleneterephthalate film is coated with (4) and (7) 10 parts by weight of polystyrene and 1 or 1.25 parts by weight of colloidal silicic acid in ethyl acetate.
