Abstract

A lubricating composition comprises an inorganic fluorine compound and 3 to 30% by weight of an oxide and/or sulphide of chromium, molybdenum or tungsten. The fluorine compound may be an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal fluoride, or a complex fluoride such as cryolite. The composition may be used dry, optionally containing other solid fillers, or in liquid or paste form in oils, e.g. mineral oils, or greases or incorporated in plastics materials.
