Abstract

Adhesive greases are prepared by saponifying hydroxy stearic acid with calcium hydroxide in a naphthenic oil which at 100 DEG F. has a viscosity of 90-120 S.U.S. and a viscosity index from below zero to about 50, and then adding to the oil and soap, a linear polyisobutylene having an average molecular weight of 17,500-18,500. The calcium hydroxide may contain calcium oxide. Colloidal metals, graphite, mica, talc, soapstone or whiting may be added to the grease.
